David Stone, M.D.
Dr. Stone is a Board-Certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician specializing in Sports Medicine, Interventional Spine/Pain Procedures, Regenerative Medicine (Platelet Rich Plasma/Stem Cell Therapies), Aesthetics/Anti-Aging and General Pain Management. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2009, where he was honored as the Bowman Scholar Recipient (awarded to the top medical student during clinical rotations, voted on by attending physicians). After medical school, he completed his medical residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, followed by a private fellowship year at Southwest Spine & Sports in Scottsdale, AZ. He has been practicing medicine in Arizona since 2013. He initially co-started AZ Spine Disc & Sport in Phoenix, Arizona before leaving that practice to start Stone Med in August 2018.
During his undergraduate years, Dr. Stone was a 4-year starter for the University of Virginia Varsity Baseball team. At the time of this writing, he was still the owner of multiple records at UVA, including most games played (2nd), at bats (4th), runs scored (6th), hits (2nd), stolen bases (1st) and walks (1st). He was drafted in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants. His professional career was cut short by a series of shoulder injuries, which forced him to retire from baseball early.
Christina Tretter, NP-C
Christina (Tina) Tretter has more than 19 years of diverse healthcare experience. Tina earned her BSN at Grand Canyon University and her MSN as an adult Nurse Practitioner with high honors from Maryville St Louis University. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Tina worked in all areas of nursing from critical care to oncology.
Tina continues to maintain her passion for sports, health and wellness. As a certified athletic trainer, she has volunteered for high school track & field and cross country as both a trainer and coach. Simultaneously she counseled and trained vegan and vegetarian endurance athletes and worked to bring healthy meals into the school system. Tina also has experience working with overweight and obese patients, helping them manage their weight and nutrition. She strives to inform, educate and guide patients into healthy livable lifestyle choices.
Tina’s personal philosophy incorporates holistic and complementary alternatives to traditional medicine. She feels that “as every patient is an individual—so is their treatment plan.” Tina co-started Stone Med with Dr. Stone in August 2018. In addition to her role in management pain and injury, she offers numerous other services including basic Primary Care, IV Hydration, Hormone Replacement and Aesthetics/Anti-Aging.
In her spare time Tina enjoys trail running, hiking, mountain biking, and weight training. Her mellow side relishes in gardening and cooking. She lives in Ahwatukee with her husband John and her youngest son, Peter. John and Tina have three other children, Ed, Chiane and Joe.
